Hello Everyone,
I would like to welcome you all to the final round, or as we like to call it "The Lightening Round". Get it? Anyway, moving along. First off, Beth and I would like to offer a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who attended the baby shower. Thanks to all of you, we now have everything we need for the little one and then some. A special thanks to Aunty Sarah (Brown), Nana Hefner, and Great Grandma Kay (Trump) for throwing such a wonderful baby shower. After doing some rough calculations, I determined that our diaper yield from said shower was approximately 1,200 diapers (saying yyyaaaayyy in a nerdy voice as I type this sentence). That is absolutely amazing! I thought we literally hit the diaper jackpot. Of course my mouth hit the floor when I realized that may only last us 4 months or so after taking into account the average 8-10 diaper changes per day. Beth and I finally finished our last load of baby clothes last night and were able put everything away in a nice organized fashion (yeah, we'll see how long that lasts after he's born). The nursery looks fantastic by the way (pictures will soon follow). Basically, because of the shower and everyone's generosity, we are as prepared as we possibly can be.
While the women were off having fun, I celebrated the only way I knew how...with a Man Shower of course. Me and my crew took a little trip up to The Shoreline Brewery in Michigan City Indiana. We ate, we drank, we laughed, and we smoked "It's A Boy" cigars. What more could an expectant father ask for on the day of the baby shower. Plus, I picked up a bottle of "Lost Sailor" bourbon barrel aged imperial stout which will be opened only to celebrate the birth of my first son. Here's to you _____ (fill in the blank if you know it).
Beth and baby are doing great. The little one is still passing all of his tests with flying colors. We know, as absolute truth, that he is undeniably a boy after seeing his boy parts numerous times during our many ultrasounds. This Friday will be the last biophysical profile ultrasound where we will find out his approximate weight. The average weight at this point in gestation is about 6.5 lbs. I will venture a guess that he is between 7 and 7.5 lbs. since he has been above the curve every time so far. He is also in the head down position (which is where we want him to be), but he has yet to drop (lightening, see joke above). Beth has said numerous times that she has had a wonderful pregnancy and that she will miss feeling him move around in her belly. With that said, we are so ready for you buddy. We can't wait to meet you and hold you in our arms for the first time.
Here are a few things going on with the little man right now...
- He will continue to gain approximately 1/2 lb per week up until delivery (beefcake)
- He should have about 15% body fat when he is born to help insulate his body after leaving his nice temperature controlled studio apartment
- When he is awake his eyes are open and he closes his eyes during nappy time
- All of his systems are fully developed except for his digestive system which will develop over the first year of his life while he ingests food and well, you know the rest
- He is responsive to light, sound, and pressure...in fact, Beth and I play a little poke game with him every now and again. We poke what seems to be his feet and he kicks back
- By now, he should be at his birth length...I guessed he will be 21 inches long at birth
Thank you all for stopping by again and supporting us. Keep checking back for an update about the finished nursery. Have a great day!
The Lacnys
